I am looking for sites that match people who are interested in
providing services (sellors) with people who need professional service
(buyers)...for specific tasks or projects. Please provide me the top

The work could involve anything from accounting service to babysitting.

There are many employment sites such as Monster but this is not what I
am looking for. These employment sites are more for finding full time
or part time jobs rather than fulfilling specific projects or tasks.

There are also referral sites such as Respond.com or Improvenet.com
but these are referral services, where you don't deal with the company
directly but go through the intermediary.

The 'reach' of this site is quite broad...global in fact.

Are there sites that are more localized? ...where people can
physically meet to conduct commerce ie. discuss the fulfillment of a
task?

The site would therefore be used to research and identify the
individuals or companies that are best suited to fulfill a task
(locally) and contact can be made on the site for an
'interview/inquiry'.
