Every once in a while my system will crash. After the blue screen comes up for a second the system restarts itself. My operating system is XP. I use Norton Systemworks including Anti virus and Firewall, Ad-aware Se edition, Spybot Search and Destroy, and System Mechanic 5. I constantly keep everything updated not to mention Microsoft updates. Needless to say I scan my system on a regular basis to get rid of spyware, junk and invalid registry entries. What else can I do to resolve this? | |

In cases like yours, I always suspect that the processor is getting too hot. I used to get idiosyncratic crashes, and finally found a small application that cured my woes. RAIN http://www.benchtest.com/rain.html This will tell you the temperature at which your processor is running, and will automatically lower the temp for you. If this works, then overheating is your problem. You could then either continue to use Rain, or get a better heat-sync fan. If this works for you, and overheating is your problem, please Clarify and I will post in the Answer box. ~~Cynthia |
