I need information on who and how to buy a DVD commercially or private
of a movie that frequently comes on TV but was never put on vhs. I
need this information by Jan. 22, to consider other options. It needs
to be recorded on the dvd directly, not dubbed onto DVD from a VCR. It
needs to be from a recording with jpeg capability (allows for
capturing a frame and being able to store the frame or picture from
the movie into the computer as an individual photo; about 50% of the
new dvd recorders can do this.)I will pay $30.00 for information but I
will later verify from the seller this requirement. Some who do this
only record to dvd from an existing vcr or dvd rather than from the
movie channel itself. The movie is Slow Dancing in the Big
City--1978;it stars Paul Sorvino & Anne Ditchburn--the ballerina,
(Golden Globe nomination for best new actress) who after this movie
had smaller parts in 4 other movies, one an A & E special called A
Moving Picture. (Ann Ditchburn was a major ballerina in the 70's and
80's with the National Ballet of Canada, a "world renown"
choreographer, and danced with Karen Kane in Gisele, if any of this
helps. This movie has been shown on 4 movie channels over the last
three months--Encore-Love Stories, Showtime, TMC and Flix. Flix will
show it one more time on January 27th '05. All showings can be easily
found by going to Paul Sorvino TV and Movie Schedule for each month. I
have located one place that will find a VCR recording for me, but not
a DVD. This movie is strange, never a commercial success, it
nevertheless has a group of admirers who like it for a number of
reasons, and therefore, there are probably thousands or tens of
thousands who have recorded this movie, though probably far fewer on
DVD. And I know there are some people who say they have looked for it
for quite awhile. You can quickly find out more about the movie on
us.imdb I am not sure how this search operates, sibnce I am not
allowed to e-mail you my address and won't know yours. So, if there
is something critical or needing to be added, I guess the best way is
for you to recheck this question for updates. Don't forget the jpeg
capability, it's certainly not unusual, but a lot have older or other
recorders who don't have this capability and some may very well not
know if theirs includes this feature. It is included in a lot of the
new DVD recorders, though. One more thing. I will pay up to $60.00 for
this kind of DVD recording. Unless you havespecial knowledge here,
don't waste time looking for a DVD of this on Ebay or hard to find
movie dealers. The best source would probably be thos who tend to like
to record movies and have a lot of movie packages from cable or
satellite, especially if they or any kind of a ballet fan. I couldn't
get much information from the ballet website or movie clubs. This help
will be greatly appreciated, as I have hit a dead end on this, with
some telling me they can, but finding out it wasn't on their cable
movies or lacking this or that. Later, on a separate questions, I
would like to get more information on this ballerina. |
