I found a lot of celebrities that are up front about liking to tan, or
are famous for having great tans. Sunless tanning is the norm in
Hollywood because the sun (and tanning beds) causes the skin to
prematurely wrinkle, and causes skin cancer.
Here's what I was able to dig up for you, although I'm sure there are
more examples. Dates of endorsements are very difficult to come by.
The first mention of any celebrity famous for having a great tan must
go to George Hamilton.
