I was installing Win 98 on an older computer for a friend. the installation was a success but the icons on the desktop were huge. I went into display settings and moved them from the lowesr to the highest setting. The screen went haywire with bands of color, no cursor, no way to get back to the control panel. I tried rebooting with a strt-up disc but couldn't make any changes. Anyone help? | |

to Denco-ga: I tried what you said & was half successful. I was able to get into the safe mode & change the setting back, actually, when you go to safe mode the settings are changed automatically to the lowest setting. Problem is, after I did that & restarted the computer I couldn't get it out of safe mode ,no matter what I tried. I'm going to give up & take it to a Tech! thanks for your help! |

When in safe mode , go to device manager by right clicking the my computer icon and click on properties. In device manager click the plus sign next to monitors then right click and delete all monitors listed. do the same thing for all display adapters listed click ok and then restart upon restart it should prompt you to install driver and allow you to boot to normal mode and set the correct display settings |
