Question ID: 459016
I am seeking a list of well-established websites. I have decided the
most effective filter in determining what is well-established is
PageRank. I desire an extensive list of websites that have a PageRank
greater than 8 (out of 10). Additionally, a list of websites with a
PageRank greater than 7 would be appreciated, but perhaps there are
too many thousands of them in existence to reasonably list. If
possible, please filter out adult content sites.

Will tip well for good work.

That is, 8 and greater. 8,9,10. Additionally, 7 would be appreciated.

favored-ga,

Thanks for posting a pretty challenging question. I'm not sure what's
more important to you -- getting at the "well-established" sites, or
getting the pagerank info. There are certainly several ways to tackle
both these things.

A search with Google on the following terms:

[ +com OR +edu OR +org OR +gov ]

will return a list of several million URL's. Every one that I
spot-checked among the first 1,000 results had a pagerank of 7-10, so
these certainly seem to qualify as "well-established".

Alexa.com also does a lot of ranking of webpages, and their Top Sites
lists offer the most "well established" sites in each category,
including many you might not be aware of of the top of your head.

For instance, in the Business category:

http://www.alexa.com/site/ds/top_sites?catid=3&ts_mode=subject&lang=none

alexa.com puts sohu.com -- a Chinese language site -- right at the top of the list.

Other top-lists include arts, computers, games, health, etc.

Do these lists meet some/all of your needs, or is there something else
you're after that we haven't quite pinned down yet?

Let us know.

Thank you pafalafa for your clarification. It was not The Answer I was
looking for, but using information in that I have figured out a way to
get what I was looking for. I have readjusted the answer price to $40
and you may submit that as an answer. I do not want to be unfair as
you did help me -- please let me know of your thoughts as well. I
guess I had overestimated the time it would take to do a google search
like that -- though no one actually did provide a list of the domains
required.

favored-ga,

Thanks very much for your kind offer. But before posting a formal
answer to your question, I want to make sure of something.

You mentioned that you've adjusted toe question price to $40, yet the
question is showing as priced at $60. Can you verify that it is set
at the correct amount? If you want to change the price, the procedure
is here:

http://answers.google.com/answers/help.html
You can change your price at anytime as long as your question is not
currently 'locked' and being answered by a Researcher. To change your
question price, go to "My Account," select "My Unanswered Questions"
and click on the question with the price you want to change. Then
click on "Change Question Parameters" to modify the price.

In addition, I do NOT want to post an answer if you don't feel you
have ALL the information you need. If there is anything else I can do
for you regarding lists of "well established" sites, or top pagerank
sites -- or both -- please let me know, and I'll do my best.

Thanks for turning to Google Answers.

I changed my mind. :-) $60 is what is what it was worth to me.

Interesting. Thank you. According to the first link, looks like the
race is on for a list of about 1800 sites! A lot less than I thought.

And that software is quite interesting -- may prove to be useful. Thanks.
