Do you know the approximate date of the work?
What style is it? (e.g. impressionist?)
From what country do you think it originates?
Where have you seen it? (e.g. in a book or in a gallery?)
This kind of info might offer more clues for people wanting to help you.

Hi,
I e-mailed Boston Athenaeum with this question below:
Dear Sirs,
Can you please confirm if this a description of Turner's painting "The
Artist's Children Reading", in the exhibit "Seen but not heard"?

The painting shows two small children sitting on the floor on a
wrinkled rug, in semidarkness, looking at a book, with dim light from
a perceived fireplace coming from the left. The boy holds the book,
and the smaller girl holds a feather quill pen. It is done indark
browns.

Thanks a lot
luntes

And that's what they told me:

Charles M. Turner's "The Artist's Children Reading" did appear in our
exhibition "Seen but not Heard." However, it is now in storage. I
showed your description to David Dearinger, our Curator of Art, and he
said it sounded accurate, but if you planned on publishing your
description, he said to let him know & he would make time to go into
storage and compare it with the original. I hope this has been helpful.

Sincerely,

print of the painting, you could contact Pat Boulos

Couldn't you search www.st-ives.net/selected-art or www.denarend.com?
But I suppose it would be best if you would put a photo of the
painting up somewhere and give the URL here.
