I am looking for a LCD or VFD display to fit in a slim cd-rom bay. An

Any type of computer interface is fine. The key is fitting a slim cd bay.

I can cut a hole in the case for a 3.5" bay LCD, or modify the bay,
but specifically I am looking for an out of the box solution.

Small displays are common enough from many suppliers but if US,
Digikey is recommended by many. Perhaps you have already explored the
site but if not :-

The paper catalogue is more useful for searching but it can also be downloaded.

There are some of appropriate size but none I think with cursor keys.
Are these required? You could add at the side. No bay fitting either
-- you?d have to do the slot thing. You would probably also have to
design an interface, which although easy I can?t of course comment if
you would find it so :-)
