I am looking for statistics on audio books in the UK and USA. Any statistics for the rest of the world would be helpful, but not essential to answering the question. All figures should come with the source and if possible a link to a relevant web page. Specifically I would like at least the last 5 years statistics for the following, from both the UK and the USA: 1) Total numbers of audio books sold on tape, CD and in digital format (eg downloaded in digital format such as MP3 from sites such as audible.com) 2) Audio book industry revenue in the UK and USA for tape, CD and in digital format. 3) Links to the 10 biggest audio book publishers in the UK 4) Links to the 10 biggest audio book publishers in the USA 5) Average price for a top 10 selling Audio Book on tape, CD and in digital format compared with the paper book equivalent in the UK and USA. 6) Predictions and trends for the digital audio book download market in the UK and USA. I realise that the statistics for digital versions of audio books may not go back more than a couple of years. I also realise statistics for the UK digital audio book market may be difficult to find, but these are the most interesting statistics for me. Tips will be given for more than one source of information to question 6). Any facts on profits made in the digital audio book market will also be helpfull if they are reliable. |

I found a site that contains statistics for the US for the years 2001-2003. Are you willing to accept this data? Do you already have some data that you are willing to share with me so that I do not duplicate what you already have or know? I want to be sure that data I provide to you will be useful. I don't want to tell you want you already know. |

I already have some information published by the Audio Publishers Association (APA). Were you talking about this page? http://www.audiopub.org/i4a/pages/Index.cfm?pageid=3460 |

Yes, that's exactly the site I was referring to. Do you already have anything for the UK? I may have found a site for UK too. I'm still working on this question and will let you know by your deadline if I've found relevant information that will add to what you already have. Good luck with your project. |

No - I can't seem to find any useful information for the UK. As I am based in the UK, the UK figures are the most important. It would also be good to get information for a wider range of years than 2001-2003 for the USA so I can work out a more accurate trend. Good luck with your research! |

Unfortunately, I'm not able to answer this question for you. I was hoping I could register as a GOOGLE ANSWERS researcher, however I just found out they are not taking applications at this time. I do have 25 years experience as a researcher for an international chemical company. I know I can provide answers to at least parts of your question. I'll keep checking back with GOOGLE ANSWERS. They may be accepting applications in the near future. I hope you can re-submit your question. |

That is a pity! I will definitely submit the question again in the future. Do you have an email address I could alert you on when I re-submit or will you monitor Google Answers? I am thinking of submitting to a more general category next time, so don't just monitor "Reference, Education and News > Consumer Information" Good luck with registering as a GOOGLE ANSWERS researcher! |
