It would help to know what your religious beliefs are. If, for example, you are Christian, do you wish to be baptized as a Methodist? A Catholic? A Mormon? If you are a non-denominational Christian, you may want to have a Christian friend or neighbor baptize you. |

If you wish to be baptised a Jehovah's Witness, a religion that follow the example of Jesus Christ but worships ONLY Jehovah God, [ Psalm 83;18, Exodus 6;3] you will not be permitted to UNTIL you have learnt through studies the basics of the complete Bible. A very humbling experience. Baptism by itself is just not enough. "Works" are involved. James 2;14-17, 21,26. |

If your fiance wants to be baptized, and you plan to marry in an Episcopalian church, the obvious thing to do is to ask the priest who will perform the marriage ceremony to baptize your fiance at some time prior to the ceremony. Baptism is, of course, a public profession of faith. I presume that your fiance is a committed believer. If not, the ceremony would be a sham. |

Do keep in mind that if the baptism of an adult is to have any meaning, it should not be done just to meet someone's approval. Baptism is symbolic of spiritual rebirth. An adult who chooses to be baptized as a Christian is not just going through some sort of formality, but is acknowledging a relationship with the Lord. If an adult who seeks baptism has no such relationship, he is making a mockery of the rite. |

pinkfreud-ga is on the right track. Since baptism in the Episcopalian church is a profession of belief there is a program of preparation required for adults who desire to be baptized. It is also necessary to know whether the candidate for baptism has already been baptized in another Christian denomination. http://www.pttw.org/peek/baptism.html |
