I would like a spreadsheet summarizing data about medium-to-large
trade shows, seminars and conferences in US metropolitan areas listed
below from January 2005 through whatever data is available into 2006
(data will peter off with that much lead time).

The topic of trade shows I?m interested in is broadly ?wellness?,
shading into new-age. The four main topics would include
spirituality; power/money/career in a new-agey way (yes Tony Robbins,
no to conventional corporate development programs); health, yoga,
healing, ageing; and relationship focus (romantic, marriage, family,
work).

Examples of what I?m interested in: Conscious Business, Yoga trade
shows, whole health expos, Omega?s conference on leading a fearless
life, Deepak Chopra?s stuff, Integral Institute events, Marianne
Williamson, John Gray.

Examples of what I?m not interested in: voodoo, tarot, astrology,
?purely? spiritual gurus like Chalanda Ma, Andrew Cohen. I?m also not
interested in conferences in remote areas like Crestone, CO or Sedona,
AZ. I?m not interested in one-person events like Carolyn Myss or
Wayne Dyer, but I would be interested at a conference that they both
would be participating, like Omega?s Being Fearless conference. I am
not interested in retreat center programs, unless they are being held
in the cities listed.

Sites to definitely include:
www.eomega.org
http://www.kripalu.org/
http://www.hollyhock.bc.ca/home.html

The spreadsheet columns:

Sponsoring Organization
Start Date
Days	(number of days the event runs)
Focus (one of four: Spirituality, power, health, relationship)
Size of event (small, medium, large?this is the judgment of the Researcher)

The spreadsheet rows are the cities. If cities that are NOT on the
list show up repeatedly, then please add them at the discretion of the
Researcher, especially if there is a large conference:

New York, N.Y.
Los Angeles, Calif.
Chicago, Ill.
Houston, Tex.
Philadelphia, Pa.
Phoenix, Ariz.
San Diego, Calif.
Dallas, Tex.
San Antonio, Tex.
San Jose, Calif.
San Francisco, Calif.
Austin, Tex.
Boston, Mass.
Washington, DC
Seattle, Wash.
Denver, Colo.
Portland, Ore.
Tucson, Ariz.
New Orleans, La.
Las Vegas, Nev.
Long Beach, Calif.
Fresno, Calif.
Atlanta, Ga.
Minneapolis, Minn.
Miami, Fla.
Vancouver, BC, Canada

Hello otto1465-ga,

Since I?m familiar with this topic I thought it would be fun to do the
research for you but my preliminary explorations lead me to believe
that what you?re asking for will require much more time and effort
than would be appropriate for the price you?ve set for this question.

Just looking at the three organizations you?ve already discovered
shows that they all offer dozens of workshops in 2005. To sort out
their offerings and enter them into your spreadsheet will require a
lot of effort because I will have to look at each workshop. determine
if it meets your criteria, then determine focus and size and enter all
five items of information into the spreadsheet. I?m sure you could do
this for yourself quicker simply based on the links to the appropriate
calendar listings. See the examples here for your three organizations.

http://www.eomega.org/omega/retreats/c865069373d84f4fb27049912bf21c9a/listWorkshops/
Omega at The Crossings (Austin) List of Workshops ? January ? June 2005
http://www.kripalu.org/program/program/all/?orderby=&viewall=1
All programs to November, 2005
http://www.hollyhock.bc.ca/programs.cfm?sortdates=1
All programs March to October, 2005

My preliminary research shows that there are multiple approaches for
identifying the events you?re trying to locate. One approach might be
to find additional institutions like the ones you?ve listed (Esalen
http://www.esalen.com, Sedona Creative Life Center
http://www.sedonacreativelife.com/home.htm, etc.) and link to their
calendar pages. You could then evaluate their offerings and decide if
they meet your needs. Please note that this type of centers (like all
three you?ve listed) are not located in large US cities but rather
offer a more remote and tranquil atmosphere in a scenic and/or rural
area.

Another possibility for identifying programs suitable for you would be
to take your list of presenters (ones you?ve already identified and/or
other similar ones) and identify where and at what conferences/events
they will be appearing this year. http://www.anthonyrobbins.com/,
http://www.chopra.com/, Wayne Dyer and Caroline Myss (and others) at I
Can Do It! 2005 in Las Vegas in April 2005.
http://www.hayhouse.com/event_details.php?event_id=133

Still another approach would be to take your list of cities and see if
there will be new age types of events there this year. (Example:
Conscious Life Expo in February in Los Angeles.
http://www.consciouslifeexpo.com/)

The task you?ve set is huge because there are no easily accessible
directories and calendars that aggregate the information you?re
searching for. Please consider my suggested avenues for locating what
you need and let me know how you want to proceed.

I look forward to your clarification.

In response to czh-ga,

Thank you very much for your insights as to how to go about this. I
was hoping there were resources which would make it fairly easy, but I
see from your clarification that there are not.

I would like to cancel the question, and proceed personally along the
lines you have suggested. I feel I have gotten good value from your
expertise and your suggestions. Is there a way I can compensate you?

Hello again otto1465-ga,

I'm glad that you found my suggestions helpful even though the
information I've found is not the answer you were hoping for. I
suggest that you close this question and post a new one to my
attention for whatever amount you consider appropriate -- like this.
