Dear dg50,
I am quite sure that the building you have in mind is the famous
assembly building (Montagehalle) of the AEG Turbinenfabrik (AEG
turbine works) in Berlin, a milestone in the history of modern
industrial architecture. This building, also often referred to as the
AEG-Turbinenhalle (turbine hall), was designed by German architect
Peter Behrens in 1908/1909.
