Hi jaimonr-ga
There are ten different types of film producers. I've listed them
below in descending order of expected salaries, although see the notes
about this at the end. I've used "he" for simplicity, but please bear
in mind that many producers are female!
1. Executive Producer
Finances the movie - gets the money. He could be a direct investor, or
he may have access to investors and raise the money.
2. Supervising Producer
In charge of a number of producers. Ensures that multiple projects are
being produced correctly.
3. Producer
Gets the movie made - oversees the project. He oversees everything
from script to screen (he may even write and direct the movie too!).
4. Co-producer
Assists the Producer or Executive Producer. Basically, this means
there is more than one producer. He may help with the production, or
he may be a secondary investor.
5. Coordinating Producer
Coordinates work between two or more producers. He ensures that
multiple producers work together to produce a consistent final piece
of work.
6. Associate Producer
A middleman - helps with contacts and information. He brings in
investors or other important people, and gets a screen credit (and
profit points) by way of thanks.
7. Line Producer
The manager - allocates the money. He is hands-on with the project,
and supervises hiring, buying, and spending the money. Very similar to
a Production Manager.
8. Production Manager
Classed as a producer - he actually spends the money. He buys, hires,
schedules, and keeps the production within budget. Similar to a Line
Producer - you only really need one or another.
9. Executive in charge of production
The accountant - hands out the checks. He holds the budget for the
company funding the film and writes checks on a weekly basis.
10. Segment Producer
Produces a small part of a production. This is more common in TV shows
than in movies, e.g. news and current affairs shows.
You asked for a comparison of salaries. Bear in mind that the first 6
are likely to get a percentage of the profits rather than a salary,
and that earning vary hugely by movie. So I've ranked them in
descending order of likely total earnings from a movie, but of course
actual earnings depend on the specific contracts.
To answer the question I searched Google for:
producer "executive producer" "line producer"
I also visited the following websites:

Should you need any clarification please request this before posting a rating.
Thanks for using GA!
