Regarding the building code: My contractor purchased a window 96'wide x 93'high, including chapes on the top for a room with a typical ceiling (8 ft) and for the space 104' between walls. O.B.C. code N 9.7.1.6 (2)(c) says that it should be minimum 1'7" from the floor for the window in a bedroom. The contractor claimed that he would mount the shapes under the roof somehow, so you could see them only from the outside. Could you please tell me was it possible to do it? We already had truces and all framing finished then, and the truces were on the way... |

hello - I am not a google reseacher, and I do not know the particulars of the code in your area. However, speaking as a builder, generally the requirement for windows is that IF they are less than 18" from floor height they have to be tempered glass (for child safety). So you probably can have lower windows if you need to, but they have to meet the stricter (more expensive) code. good luck to you. - synapse666b |
