An exhibition was held by the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of New York, from April 2nd to August 16th, 1998 called American Ingenuity : Sportswear 1930's to 1970's. I want to know the names of the designers whose dresses were shown at that exhibition. The Met website doesn't help much. |

Hello, I don't have a complete answer to your question, but I do have a lead. You are correct that the Metropolitan Museum's website doesn't offer a great deal of information. It does, however, sell a exhibition catalog for the "American Ingenuity" exhibit. I can't promise, but I would be very suprised indeed if the catalog didn't provide the name of the designers featured in the collection. The link to the catalog can be found here: http://www.metmuseum.org/Store/st_family_viewer.asp?familyID={83B5CA63-AD4E-11D3-936B-00902786BF44}&shopperID=&FromPage=catBooks&familyNo=1&catID={84338673-BC36-11D3-936D-00902786BF44} Also, if you contact the institute directly, someone may be willing to provide the name of the designers. Contact information, including phone number and email addresss for the Costume Reference Library can be found here: http://www.metmuseum.org/contact.htm I hope this helps you find the names of the designers that you are looking for. Regards, Rjoy-ga |
