Greetings,
Thank you for taking the time to view my question,

I am trying to add a script to my website
html(http://www.concreteforever.com )that will allow the appearance of
my website to adjust automatically to any users screen resolution.

I built the site using 800x640 and when I view the website with this
resolution everything is fine, however over half of my visitors are
using 1024x768 and when you view my webpages with 1024x768 the page is
off center and to the extreme left.

Last night I reformatted the layout of my index.html page to suit a
1024x768 resolution but when I view the page in 800x600 it cuts off
20% +/- of the page unless you scoll over.

Can you provide me with a script I can paste into my html which will
"self adjust" to any visitors particular browser?

Thank you in advance!

david

I appreciate your feedback very much! my pages are off center and I've
tried everything to fix it yo no avail. I've tried <body
style="text-align: center;"> but it still won't center my page
perfectly..perhaps I am incerting the tag in the wrong areas in my
html...

Also, The width="100%" adjustment in my table tag has made little
differance as well...

Most webpages I visit fill the screen when viewed in 800x600 or when
viewed with 1024x768 - however my website does not fill the screen
when viewed in a higher resolution. How can i fix this?

Also, my page loads too slow....

I really appreciate your input!

Until just recently I didn't even know how to use "yahoo site builder"
(now I realize it's a "website 4 dummies" program.

I'm not sure I completely understand what a "table" is or how to
incert a table into a main table. I've experimented with your html
code you so graciously provided to me (thank you) however I cannot get
my webpage to "self adjust" on higher resolutions.

The notations you made on my site are appreciated and I have corrected
many of them you have mentioned. But I am curious...are you using a
firefox browser? because in my IE browser I didn't see the overlaps
you mentioned but when I switch to firefox it appears as you have
mentioned-"what makes us different" is what it is suppposed to say....

I'm actually embarressed to ask for anymore assistance on this matter
even though my page still sticks to the left on 1024x768 resolution.

I've been trying for several days to correct this anomaly to no avail

I would delete some of my unnecessary scripts and pics if I could
incert a html code that would auto adjust my page to fit any browser
but I cannot seem to find a code that works....(sigh)

Thank you for all your help!

I've made a new page from the html you provided at
http://www.concreteforever.com/textured-concrete.html

It is not centered although it has moved over to the right about 3/4"

any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong?

You guys have been great with all the very helpful input concerning my
site, as a novice web designer I need all the help I can get and am
eager to learn more...HOWEVER..I still have not recieved a viable
answer as to how my webpage can self adjust to any
browser....detecting a visitors browser and redirecting them to a new
page made for their resolution is unfeasable as I have too many
pages...I need to be able to post a code or script into my site that
will automatically adjust the appearance of the website..for
instance...www.concretenetwork.com looks the same whether you view it
with 800x600, 1024x768 or other resolutions...how they did it is what
i need to know,,,surely there is someone out there that knows....all
the answers that have posted on my question are obviously written by
intellectuals....

I didn't take too close a look, but it looks like your formatting
relies mainly on tables. You can set the table to use a screen width
of 100%, and it will automatically adjust to the size of the screen
for the particular user you are accomodating. Instead of

width="1014"

in your table tag, just change that to

width="100%"

In addition, if you're concerned about compatibility and readability,
you may wish to reconsider your use of the concrete forever cursor and
the extensive scripting.

If that doesn't work, you can use javascript to test the browser
settings. The following link offers some source code and an example
you can mess around with:

http://javascript.internet.com/user-details/browser-properties.html

Good luck,

One simple, but not exact answer to question is align center the
table, so that the page remains center no matter the resolution and
not sticking to the left side of the browser.

Automatic resizing of the page is possible by setting the TABLE width to 100%.
Also by carefully distributing the 100% width among the TR and TD tags.
The entire page design should be enclosed in a MAIN TABLE tag and then
nest the tables inside the main table for displaying the info on the
page.

basically you will need to versions of your main page, one for the
users with a screen resolution in 800x600 and the another one.

With the javascript you can detect what is the screen resolution of
mainly all browsers so you can redirect acording the resolution to the
proper web page to display.

Google search:
screen resolution +javascript

I hope it helps.

My quick observations on your site:

Menu at top of page should be centered.

Too much empty space at bottom of page after site update.

Typo on site update line right now it says TFriday

Links after site update should be moved over - Google.com seems to
fall off the left side of the page.

Way too much space after To report technical .... contact the webmaster.

At 1024 X 768 resolution I have to scroll left to right to view entire
page. Not good.

Your pictures should be centered better. The top photo is fine, but
the 2 below it should be centered underneath. Perhpas use a border
around the photos to separate them a bit.

Struture Architecture Image is way too close to the photos. Drop it down a tad.

Below that it's gets very busy and confusing. Drop it down a tad.

What Makes Different. What are you trying to say there. The word
"Different is ovelapping part of the word "Make".

Line 7 (for use in...) You have a white line (should be eliminated)
Houston expansive soils Line) and the underline link goes way beyond
the text.

Your ... also is blue, not white text.

Two of the links on the right are way out of kilter.

I haven't taken a look at your page source.

Start off with a blank page and copy and paste this. Put everything
in tables inside the main table you have created with this HTML.

<body>

<div align="center">
<center>
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"
style="border-collapse: collapse" bordercolor="#111111" width="90%">
<tr>
<td width="100%">
<p align="center">This is the way to do it</td>
</tr>
</table>
</center>
</div>

</body

Last tag should be:
</body>

a closer view of your site show me your using excesive div layers.
Try to organize everything in your site and dont abuse of html (keep
it clean).

I sugest you to use gif's instead of jpg's or png's in images where
you dont need photografic details, they will occupy less space and
will make your page a little more faster. Also png files arent still
a standar in web design.

And look your html tags. You have two <body> tags but remember only
one work in a page (the last one) and some tags are unclosed (for
example </body ).

I hope it helps.
