Dear Kid Star,
Although it is always better to be well connected, and to know about
events that way, there are several good sources online to know about
events that are to take place in Hollywood.
http://www.seeing-stars.com/Calendar/index.shtml is a good source to
know about premiers, and other events including stars. Furthermore -
you can check out for your favourite stars and get more tips on how to
see them.
http://www.hollywoodnetwork.com/hn/calendar/ lists events in
Hollywood. Their message boards are usually "abused", but are supposed
to contain information about events.
The Hollywood reporter also holds a list of events, as you can see
here - http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hollywoodreporter/calendar/index.jsp
Not all of the events take place in Hollywood, but all are Hollywood
related.
Speaking of connections, gossip and newsgroups are sometimes great
(and free) way to know stuff. I recommend Google's own
Alt.Gossip.Celebrities -
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&group=alt.gossip.celebrities
and
Alt-Hollywood - http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&group=alt.hollywood
For example, Arnie has a similar question to your in a discussion
list, and people recommend him to get into the movies' web-sites and
check out the LA Times (www.latimes.com) Personally, I think that
these recommendations are not as good as the calendars I gave you, but
these lists are certainly a good place to catch up and discuss your
shared interest. See Arnie's thread here:
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&threadm=ernopena-2101970005050001%40lax-ca21-13.ix.netcom.com&rnum=7&prev=/groups%3Fq%3Dhollywood%2Bpremieres%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26oe%3DUTF-8%26selm%3Dernopena-2101970005050001%2540lax-ca21-13.ix.netcom.com%26rnum%3D7
A similar good source for guessing, gossips and information on where,
when and whom, is at
http://www.hollywoodplayersnetwork.homestead.com/News.html - they have
lots of information regarding parties and premieres. However, it is a
bit disorganised and Seeing-Stars mentioned before is much better,
even if they don't have internal industry parties.
A less good source, yet a source, to know about events, is the City of
Hollywood http://www.showtimeinteractive.com/top/1,1419,S-Hollywood-Home-!Front,00.html
, similarly to the LA Times, it might publish information regarding
upcoming events. IMDB (http://www.imdb.com) also contains sometimes
information regarding specific movies or stars. They also have a
for-fee service, which lists more internal industry news and events.
Another good source, also with free advices from the site manager on
their forum, is http://www.celebrity-tips.com/OurGurus.asp
My search strategy was to search google and google groups for
[Hollywood events] and by a specific type of event (such as premiere).
For example: ://www.google.com/search?q=hollywood+events&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
I hope that answered your question. If you feel like you need a
clarification, I'll be pleased to provide you one, so just ask for it. |
