"Lovite" does not appear to be a word in the English language. Where
did you encounter the word? Are you certain of the spelling? Could it

It seems to be one who follows the theachings of the goddess Loviatar.

Vengeance is a weapon to be grasp and wielded with extreme wisdom. You
must plan for the time to strike and strike well. Do not settle with
?an eye for an eye? take both their eyes and their tongue. Return, to
your foe, the very suffering they have placed upon you. Bring them to
your level of despair and misery. Once a Lovite has achieved this
balance, they must seek to bless the individual with more. By
spreading the guidance of Loviatar, you shall forever achieve
enlightenment. Fore example, after you have taken both their eyes and
their tongue, leave for them their ears, so they will forever hear the
pain that is spread from the mere sight of them.

The source of Loviatar's profound obsession with vengeance is unknown.
Erosia postulates that she was spurned by an ancient mortal lover and
henceforth metes eternal vengeance upon all mortal creatures. Chronos
disagrees, arguing that no explanation is necessary or possible. She
merely is what she is. The deities of goodness are horrified by
everything Loviatar is and everything she stands for. It is possible
that she is even more repugnant to them than Set (with the exception
of Vishnu, of course). Despite the cause or the source, all Lovites
are utterly obsessed with revenge. If they are wronged, they will do
whatever it takes, no matter how long it takes to achieve what they
feel is restitution. Seeking revenge is rapturous pleasure for the
Lovite, and they will make themselves available to others (sometimes
at the cost of a donation to the church) who pursue revenge- both to
please Loviatar and to please themselves.

These are the only two sources I could find with the defenition for
the word you are looking for.

"Loveit, Lovite: a term expressing the royal regard for a person mentioned
or addressed, as in a Royal Commission."

"Lovit, lovite, lovitt" a forensic term used in charters, dispositions,
proclamations etc, expressive of the royal regard to the person or persons
mentioned or addressed.

it is a past participle meaning beloved

"Lovite" is a Scots word meaning "dear" or "beloved".

It can mean favoured by royalty or noblemen, or be a formal expression
of respect or affection from officials. In the following case it is
magistrates who say: "our lovit neighbouris and suitors, John Soupar,
James Wricht, and George Baxter"
http://www.grandlodgescotland.com/glos/Literature/Articles/aberdeen.html

Lovite/lovit/luvit may also refer to anybody's loved ones, family,
friends, dependents etc.

In your example, "Adam Smith and David Neilson, our Lovites..." may
mean something like "Adam Smith and David Neilson, our dear friends .
. ."
