The births are registered in Paris are not centrally registered in the
city of Paris, but rather in the arrondismont where the birth
occurred.
In order to get a copy of the birth certificate, this information is required.
How can I find out in which arrondismont the birth occurred, having
available only the name; first and last, and date?

Dear meyerg,

This is indeed a tough problem. Frankly, I see only one solution: You
will have to contact the city hall (mairie) of each of the 20
arrondissements and inquire for the "extrait d'acte de naissance"
(birth record extract) with them. The mairie that actually holds the
birth record you are looking for should be the only one who can find
that record and reply with a positive answer.

This official website of the Paris Tourism and Congress Office
provides contact information for the mairies of all arrondissements of
Paris:
http://www.paris-touristoffice.com/va2/partenaires/mairies_va.html

Contacting all mairies is, of course, a rather intricate way to obtain
the birth certificate; but obviously there is no other solution.

I did not make this an answer yet since I was not sure whether the
information is useful at all. If it leads to any positive results,
please let me know.

Regards,
Scriptor

Actually, there is a way to get a copy of the birth certificate
without knowing the arrondissement, if you order it online. You can
choose "Ne sait pas" for "Mairie d'arrondissement" and they will do
the research for you. But of course, the form is in French.
The link is the following:

I hope this will help you.
