Yes you have the same rights as anyone, Felon or not, when it come to
crime investigation. You may be running up against "pay back". I've
seen it happen before. Sorry if that is the case.

This sounds like the kind of case that the ACLU used to take, before
that organization became obsessed with eradicating religious
expression from our society.

thank you for responding to me. I am not the victim in this case, but
I have a close relative that has been victimized by the law that is
suppose to protect and serve and I don't think it is fair. True enough
I know that we live in a society where it does't matter if it is fair
or not, but it is time to draw the line! I want to be one of the ones
who make a change. If you can advise me in any way or have any
information regarding this type of disrimination please feel free to
comment. once again thank you.

Your relative might want to contact the ACLU of Georgia to see whether
they could offer any assistance or advice.

Another option is to write a detailed letter about the situation, and
send copies of the letter to the appropriate members of Congress who
represent the ex-felon. Send copies of the letter to local newspapers
and television stations, too. The more publicity you get, the more
likely it is that something will be done. You know the old saying: the
squeaky wheel gets the grease.

One of the drawbacks of committing a felony is that it labels you for
life. In Georgia, there are those who believe civil rights don't
belong to every man. Rest assured that if you get charged with
another crime, the rules of evidence prohibit your prior record from
being used to show a propensity towards criminal activity. You are
entitled to every right guaranteed by the Constitution. Reality says
that getting those rights and doing something about it when you don't
is a very steep mountain to climb!
