Question ID: 461198
What percentage of computers used for internet viewing use 800x600
resolution vs. higher resolutions?

Nearly all of the computers sold for the last 4 years default to a
higher resolution. I'd be suprised if the 800x600 percentage is above
15% anymore.

I've found some good statistics from October 2004. How recent do you
need your figures to be?

Within the last 6 months is good. Can you get two sources for this figure?

Thanks, Patrice

Sorry, I have only a single source. I hope another Researcher will be
able to find what you need.

Most web pages are formatted for 1024x768 screen resolution... Smart
browsers will adapt, but will compromise text size and pictures will
be scaled.

I run a few websites that get around 3 million viewers per month.

My stats is 89% 1024x768
5% run at 800x600

the rest are all over the place.

Hope that helps

Since I was not able to come up with two recent sources with identical
figures, I'm posting my findings as a free comment.

Here are some numbers from October 2004:

Display Resolution

Higher 1024x768 800x600 640x480 Unknown
 10% 51% 34% 1% 4%

http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp

These statistics are from June 2004:

1. 1024 x 768 54.02%
2. 800 x 600 24.66%
3. 1280 x 1024 14.1%
4. 1152 x 864 4%
5. 640 x 480 0.6%
6. 1600 x 1200 0.8%
7. 1152 x 870 0.1%
