Any further information that you can provide would be helpful. Knowing
the name of the boat and/or the men might help us to find the name of
the documentary.

the boat was a fiberglass, 23ft, cabin boat. maby a "bellboy" or a
"wizerd", it was one of thouse "texas" maid boats back in the 50s.
it had two 50hp johnsons or evenrud, white, outboards on the back.
(johnson and evenrude quit making the "white 50hp V4" back in 1959)
they were white and the boat had two of them. the documentry showed
the small tanker from the boat but not much form the tanker to the
boat. the boat exsperanced eng truble and had to be put on the
tanker once during the trip. to bad, cuz crosing the atlantic in a
23ft, power boat, would have been REALY SOMTHING. there were 3
young men on the boat and it had to be around 1959 or 1960 but i dont
think much later than that cuz the motors looked new. im sure it
was form eather the azors or portchgal to new york. i called the
portchil consalet in san froncisco but no luck there. I KNOW I SAW
IT and it was great. i have a 25ft cabin boat and i love going out
on it in the SF bay. im 68 and been trying to find this video or
what ever for 15 years. if you jog my meory a bit maby i can come
up with more info, but i have been kind or disaponited cuz the info
aint out there anyware.

According to this source, the first transatlantic crossing in an
outboard-powered boat occurred in 1958. However, it began in
Copenhagen and ended in New York:

Here is a link to a more complete account of the background of the trip:
http://www.rbbi.com/folders/pat/isd.htm

According to the source linked just above the trip resulted in am
appearance by the instigator of the voyage, Jim Wynne, on "I've Got A
Secret," but there is no mention of a documentary.
