What is the cheapest way of buying this Swiss gingerbread thing I got
given and which I want to get more of, bearing in mind I'm in
Melbourne, Australia? It is made by Merkur and on the packet it says
"Echter Berner Haselnuss-Lebkuchen" and "Bain d'epice aux noisettes a
la bernoise" "art no. 472" "Confiserie Bamby AG 3421 Lyssach /
Schweiz" and a bar code, the number associated with which is
7618100004724. It is a specialty of Berne, a Swiss city, and I'm not
wedded to this particular manufacturer if it's possible to buy what is
essentially the same thing from another manufacturer.

No it's not, but can you buy those products online? I've found
references to a website www.merkur.ch, but it no longer seems to be
operative.

Here is the address of "Confiserie Bamby AG 3421 Lyssach" (Switzerland):

As already mentioned by czh-ga in the link

Merkur is the distributor. Their website is still operative. You can
contact them by using this form:

My brother got back to Melbourne from Germany yesterday and had
promised to bring me some equally addictive gingerbread from Aachen(or
"Aachener Printen"). Unfortunately he brought marzipan instead and has
now been struck from the will.
However, you can buy chocolate-coated gingerbread in the David Jones
food hall in the Bourke St Mall which is the closest approximation
I've yet found in Australia. I would love to know of somewhere in
Melbourne which imported the genuine article however!
