You need to narrow down your envelope. There are many types of ribbon cable, and just as many ways to use them. One could write a very large book on the subject. If you could specify, I or another can advise. Best |

What I mean by ribbon cable is a bundle of parallel ribbon cables on a big board, the simplest form |

Hi lujie1986. I?m afraid there is no ?simplest form? of ribbon cable usage so there is no concise comment which can be made. Is this by any chance a high school project? One would suspect you are thinking of computer floppy / CD / HD etc ribbon, 0.127? pitch, but they now differ in configuration. If digital, what data rate are you interested in. But you might be more concerned with analogue -- and the frequency range would have to be specified. Then again are you considering driving and matching to the characteristic impedance with alternative wires being grounded, or driving into high impedance with no guards? One cannot assume though. If you can narrow down the specifics, I (and several others) could help. If it is a high school project and you are not able to be more precise because it?s all a bit new to you, then I?m afraid the project is at present too ambitious. But we will be pleased to help if we can. Best |
