Question ID: 462275
I have a Pioneer SD-P5073 projection monitor receiver. I do not have
the owner's manual. I have the original remote control. All other
functions of the television work, except that channels 66 through 93
do not appear to be available.

Having recently moved and changed cable providers, I discovered that
channels 66 through 93 were not programmed into the available
channels. I have run through all the menu prompts several times, and
am not able to figure out how to program these missing channels into
memory. Even typing "66" into the remote will not change the channel
to 66.

This is an issue with just this television. These channels are
available through the VCR and are available on other televisions in
the house.

Could someone please tell me how to allow channels 66 through 93 into
this television?

Thanks,
Will

I do not have a Pioneer set, but every TV I've had in the past decade
has had a feature (accessed through the remote control menu) for
"memorizing" available active channels. It sounds as if your set is
still set to the channel lineup that its previous owner used. I
suggest going through every item on the menu, looking for a choice
that says something like "channel scan" or "channel memory." I don't
know what Pioneer calls this feature, but I'm sure it is there.

Thanks for the comment.

The feature for "memorizing" available active channels works.
Unfortunately, it works for channels 1-65 and 94 ->
If there were the ability to add and delete available channels 66-93,
it should be in this menu prompt.
The function of adding and deleting the remaining channels functions properly.

I have been through the entire menu options set, several times over.
I have tried every option available, and have not yet found a function
for automatically scanning available channels and adding/deleting the
ones from memory. This is a pretty sophisticated tuner, and I suspect
that because it has such a myriad of inputs, I have not yet properly
matched the input in the back with the menu options for that input.

Thanks for the comment.

Because the other channels tune properly, I do have tuner reception.
This seems much more like a software issue than a hardware issue.

I also saw a similar question posted about a different model Pioneer
projection tuner.

Will --

I have exactly the same problem with one of my three sets (an old RCA)
that I have connected to my Comcast cable service. The only difference
is that in my case channels 66 to 94 are unavailable (except for
channel 71!). It's been that way for years, and I haven't bothered to
try diagnose it -- until now.

First, I connected the RCA to one of my other cable connections, and
the same channels are not accessible, so the problem is with the set.

I then found the manual for the set, and here's what it had to say:

"In the U.S.A., if your cable company offers ultra-band cable channels
65-89, you can tune them by adding the optional accessories in RCA Kit
No. AH056 to the incoming cable. Check with your RCA dealer for more
complete information."

Because of the similarity of our situations, I suspect that you also
need such a kit. I suggest you raise the question with a
knowledgeable TV repair shop (if any remain in your area) or contact
Pioneer customer service at the following linked page.

If this information turns out to lead you to a solution, I would be
happy to post the information as an answer. And good luck.

I know this sound pretty simple ... but, do you have the TV set to
"Cable" or "Antenee"? You can find this option in the same area
usually where you can have the TV auto detect channels. I know
simple, but you never know.

Wushi:

The TV is set to Cable.
