The book in "The Edge" is called "Lost in the Wilds," by "D. Croyle."

"For all of the information that Morse has learned from his book, Lost
in the Wilds (The filmmakers wisely choose to let the book get lost
when the plane crashes unlike the draft I read where they have it with
them the entire time.), the filmmakers carefully contrive such that
practically not one piece of that information actually helps them
accomplish any of their goals."

James P. Mercurio: THE EDGE: A CRITICAL ANALYSIS

"The Edge opens by introducing us to Charles Morse (Anthony Hopkins),
one of the richest and smartest men in the world. He's busy reading a
book entitled Lost in the Woods, so everyone in the audience
immediately knows where the film is headed."

ReelViews: The Edge

"I watched the current movie 'The Edge' and in the beginning actor
Anthony Hopkins is opening a book on survival in the wilderness.
Author is D. Croyle and title is 'Lost in the Wilds'. It is a small
hardback yellow covered book."

This book does not exist outside the screenplay. The name "D. Croyle"
is an inside joke: a look at the film's credits show that Darragh
Croyle was an assistant to Lee Tamahori, the director of "The Edge."

I just noticed that one of the quotes I posted above gives the name of
the book as "Lost in the Woods." Please note that this not the correct
title. Other sources confirm "Lost in the Wilds" as the name of the
book.

"The tension between the two men is established early on. In his
cashmere overcoat, Charles is no outdoorsman. Alaska makes him
skittish. He's uneasy on this trip for several reasons. He pours [sic]
over the pages of Lost in the Wilds, an illustrated book he brought
along."
