Carol Sorkin
I have a lithograph by an artist named “Carol Sorkin”. The lithograph
is signed and dated 1961 – it is number 27/100. I believe the
lithograph is named “Mother and Child”. It is approximately 2.0 feet
by 3.0 feet. I bought the lithograph approximately 30 years ago in
New York. If I search Google for “Carol Sorkin”, I find only one
reference for her name. My questions are:
1) Is she alive?
2) If she is – how can she be reached?
3) Is the lithograph worth anything?

I have a few questions, the answers to which might help me or one of
the other Researchers to find what you're looking for.

Is the artist's name spelled exactly as you've written here? -- I ask
especially because "Carol" has some alternative spellings.

Does the lithograph indicate whether the artist has a middle initial
or middle name?

Are there any other details on the front or back of the lithograph
that might help to identify the lithograph or the artist?

Is there a reason why you believe that the lithograph is called
"Mother and Child"?

Do you recall exactly where in New York you bought the lithograph?

I have found such a person (spelling Carolyn) in the New York city
phone directory by going to http://www.realpages.com. I've placed a
call to this person, and will let you know if this is the same person
when and if she returns my call. Thanks!

The artist name is at it appears, Carol Sorkin, no middle initial. The
K in Sorkin is the same height as the S in Sorkin. I don't think it is
a capital letter but it is a discriminating factor in her signature.
It appears the signature is written in pencil.
It is a numbered litograph, number 27 of 100. The number seven also
has a discriminating factor, it has a line as if crossed like a "t".
I'm not sure if the artist named the lithograph "Mother and Child"; it
is however, of a obscure mother holding her child. One must really
study the lithograph to see the images.
I will need to get back with you on the location of purchase.
The ink of the lithograph is of a reddish brown hue.
