How do detectives match their criminal to their dental record if they
have fake teeth?

Dental records are more often used to identify dead victims rather
than living criminals. I suppose there might be a case with bite-mark
evidence where a suspect bit someone, but wore full dentures when
doing so (as happened in the movies "Manhunter" and "Red Dragon"). But
I doubt that this kind of thing is very common. Is that the kind of
situation that you're thinking of?
