On feb 11th 2005 I am due to fly with Binter Canarias from Tenerife
Norte Los Rodeos to La Palma in the Canary Islands(Flight NT 639). I
understand the plane I will fly on will be "Type AT7". I need to know
if this is a jet or alternatively a propeller-driven plane. My efforts
to obtain
this info, from the company have proved fruitless. Please help.

Hello barrymarial-ga,

Thank-you for your question.

The AT-7, is a 70 seater turbo-propeller regional airliner. Further
details of this type of plane including an example photograph can be
seen on this page:

http://www.airport-borispol.kiev.ua/aircrafts/ATR-72.html

If you require any further information on this aircraft please ask for
clarification and I will do my best to respond swiftly.

Thankyou for you reply.

Does this mean the plane is NOT a jet, but rather is propeller-driven?
I have tried contacting the website you suggest several times but get
the same message: "server busy, please try again later'. What do you
suggest I do alternatively? regards BML

I am sorry you have been unable to access the site since I answered
the question, I have just tried again here and I am also now having
the problem. The page is still in Google's web cache so hopefully you
should be able to access it here:

http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:uOFCg1Nrp3UJ:www.airport-borispol.kiev.ua/aircrafts/ATR-72.html+at7+aircraft&hl=en

As you correctly assumed the aircraft is NOT a jet but it is propeller driven.

Some other sites that includes information on the aircraft include:

http://www.delta.com/travel/plan/aircraft_types/asa-at7/index.jsp
http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/American_Airlines/American_Airlines_ATR72.php
http://www.munich-airport.de/EN/Areas/Consumer/Reiseinfos/Aircraft/AT72.html

Of these the munich-airport.de website has the best picture of the
aircraft, but the other two sites indicate other details, such as leg
room and how you board the aircraft, in an easier way.

If you have any further questions please ask for clarification again.

The code "AT-7" is short for ATR-72, a large french made turoboprop aircraft.
