We had a website under www.saxeroux.com. We think the hosting company
went out of business. Do you know any way we can find it again ?

I have found some archived pages from a site called saxe-roux.com, but
no evidence whatsoever of saxeroux.com (without the hyphen).

Is this archived site of any use to you?

http://web.archive.org/web/20020525020956/http://www.saxe-roux.com/

As you'll see from the archive of Feb 28, 2004, this site was hit by
malicious hackers:

http://web.archive.org/web/20040228023750/http://saxe-roux.com/

Please let me know if this is helpful. If you are certain that the
domain name was saxerous.com rather than saxe-rous.com, any additional
details (particularly dates) will be useful.

Thank you so much. This is the site I have been looking for. Now the
question is can I just take this link and revise it with a new hosting
group. Any suggestions for free or low cost hosting. Thanks.
Suzanne

I'm glad to have been able to help, but I know very little about free
or low-cost hosting, so I'll leave your question open in the hope that
another Researcher will be able to assist you.

I've used http://www.linksky.com .

The servers are fast, support is fantastic, the cost is very low;
graduated depending on the features you need and space you use,
starting at $4.95 a month. I never needed more than the $4.95 level
of service. They have not raised their hosting fees since I first
heard about them about 4 years ago.

Free hosts usually have ads, and those that don't usually/eventually
change that policy and become paid hosts. If the price they then
charge is too much, you are forced to move, again. I was very happy
paying reasonable hosting fees at LinkSky.

If this is a satisfactory suggestion, let me know and I'll post it in
the Answer Box.

~~Cynthia

The domain www.saxeroux.com is available for sale. I don't believe you
can retrieve the content as many companies sell hardware when they go
belly up. If you are interested in the domain name, register it ASAP
at register.com or Yahoo domains, joker.com, etc.

Some websites keep a cache of popular websites but if the domain has
been inactive for a while, most of those caches would also get
deleted.

I suggest reg it with www.godaddy.com at $8.95 us dollors. As for
hosting- I agree with the free hosting thing, it always is more
trouble than it is worth. But if you must fo free- www.netfirms.com
with host and all they do is place a banner at the top- see
www.ulrickremodeling.netfirms.com. If you want good services and a
cheap hosting company I recommend www.nextmill.com to all my clients.
They are a smaller company but you may be able to get a even cheaper
price than the quoted price on the site if you call the sales team.
And they offer alot of service for the price you pay. If you find a
cached version of your site you may be able to copy source coding from
it and rebuild it. Graphics are normally not cached at all- so any may
have to be recreated or hopefully you may have copies of them.
