Hello,

The choice of your video capture board is dependent of what you want
to do with it. Do you want to use your pc as a vcr, do you want to
edit your home movies, do you want to edit professional movies?
The best thing you can do is check a comparison site like
http://dvguide.sharbor.com/head-to-head/ or
http://www.videoguys.com/vidcap.htm.
Here you can compare the pro's and con's of different boards.
Most likely you will want the Pinnacle DV500 plus, which is the most
popular card at the moment (it has loads of possibilities, extra
software and a breakout box (easy for connecting cables))Another
possibility is the dazzle dvcreator II. But I strongly recommend you
to compare cards to see which one meets your requirements the most.

This answer gave me a good place and method to look for a video
capture card. But I found out the Dell I am using may have major
technical problems with DVT. Although I did not specify which Dell, I
rated this answer 4 stars for overlooking the problems with the DVT
computers currently being offered by Dell.

For the Price, the answer probably deserves 5 stars.
