have you cecked the attributes on this folder? open command window and type ' attrib /? ' Files and folders can be set with A - Archive used for backups S - System and H - Hidden. If a file or folder has an S or H attribute sometimes its hard to remove them. What O/S version are you using? |

You should run the disk checking program in windows, Scan Disk and/or Defragmenter. If the folder structure is currupt, it could be prevent you from deleting it. |

First you need to reboot into safe mode and log in as the administrator. Just because you have administrator status in XP Home does not mean you are the administrator. One of the oddities of XP Home. You get to safe mode by pressing the F8 key at startup before the XP logo screen comes up. It is a bit of a trick to press it at the right time. You then select safe mode from the menu and log in as the administrator when it comes up. Now that you are in control you will be able to delete that file. You will want to use Explorer to find C:\Documents and Settings\(insert user name here)\my documents Try to highlight it and delete it. If it gives you an error go on to the next step. When you see the versionhelper.java folder, right click and select properties. Click on the security tab Click on the advanced button Click on the Owner tab Highlight the Administrator account and check Replace owner on subcontainers and objects. Click OK Click OK again Now try to delete the folder. If it works then you can log off and reboot normally. If it comes back you may have some spyware or virus that is putting that folder there. It is likely a program that is doing that. Hope this helps! |
