I am using the Microsoft Outlook 2003 Journal function. When I make a
manual entry, the text in the main subject block defaults to what is
called the Draft Font (Menu: View - Draft Font) which is a very small
font size, but the Draft Font can be unchecked so that the body text
is whatever size you want (Ariel 14 in my case). However, when the
Journal entry is closed and then reopened, the text reverts back to
the small Draft Font.

My question is: how do I turn OFF the Draft Font in Outlook 2003
Journal so that entries I make in Ariel 14 open subsequently in Ariel
14?

Hi enty,

Please try follow these steps and let me know if it works:

Open Microsoft Outlook.
In Tools, click Options > Mail Format.
In Stationary and Fonts, click Fonts.
Under "When composing a new message", click "Choose Font".
Choose the font and size you want, which you said in your case is Ariel 14.
Click OK > OK > Apply > OK.

When you open a new Journal Entry, make sure the "Draft font" in View is unchecked.

Waiting to hear if this solves the problem.

Best regards,
Rainbow

Hello Rainbow --

Your initial solution does not work, and, indeed, I had already set
the default font in Tools - Options - Mail Format because I use Ariel
14 as my default email font. And with Outlook email it works fine,
just as you suggest, but this has no effect on Outlook Journal.

As for unchecking Draft Font in Outlook Journal, I have tried this
repeatedly. The problem is -- unchecking Draft Font only fixes the
font while the Journal entry window is open. As soon as you click
Save and Close and then re-open the same entry, the type reverts back
to the small Draft Font. I'm trying to work out how to get the
unchecked Draft Font to stay unchecked, or else how to set the Draft
Font changed to Ariel 14. Hope this is helpful.

Hi enty,

After I followed the steps above, my default font changed in both Mail
and Journal. I closed Journal and even shut down my computer to see if
the change would remain. It has. I am puzzled this solution didn't
work for you.

Hopefully someone else has another suggestion.

Best of luck,
Rainbow
