Howdy all,

I am trying to find operations and maintenance costs for using
powdered activated carbon treatment in drinking water treatment. I
have decent capital cost data for most of the common drinking water
treatment operations, (e.g. conventional coagulation, settling,
filtration, etc), mostly from this site:
http://www.epa.gov/safewater/needs.html

but have been very frustrated in finding similar data for O and M
costs. Typically costs vary on log-log linear basis, i.e. a plot of
the log of the capacity and the log of the cost form a straight line,
which can have a line fitted y=mx+b. The b value is the linear
constant and the m value is the scaling constant. You can then write
the equation in the form:
cost=(10^b)*(capacity)^m

I am trying to find either a source of O&M data for PAC use at various
sized water treatment facilities, or actual linear and scaling cost
coefficients. (I can calculate the coefficients myself quite easily,
if only the data is available.) I need to find a range of plant sizes,
from about 1 MGD (million gallons per day) to about 50 MGD, if
possible. Please note that overall O&M costs of facilities that _USE_
PAC, without the PAC cost broken out, is not helpful to me. I need to
estimate the additional O&M cost incurred by using PAC. I will
appreciate (and tip) if you happen to also come across PAC capital
costs in your search, to verify the data I already have. Best, John
