I have PDF files with form fields that can be filled out. However, if you just have Adobe Acrobat Reader, you can not fill out the forms and save the results locally. I want to distribute my PDF files to a lot of users, and do not want to ask them to have to install a third-party application in order to save their completed form. Is there a software application that would allow me to create PDFs with forms that users could save locally without have to install extra software locally? How much is it (approx)? |

Would you be against using a print driver? Or you could use server side software to send a request to generate a pdf with a click of a button on a web page and generate the pdf on the fly (and you could prompt the user to save locally). If that's what you're looking for I could be more specific. The cost would depend on the amount of data you're trying to process and the expected response times. |

Hello Webravi, We have an existing set of PDFs (about 90 pages total) that have form fields. We would be open to converting them to html, then having them converted back to PDF on the fly, if that's what you mean. We're open to almost anything, as long as the user doesn't need to install software. Thanks, James |

JJ -- Several government agencies that I know provide PDFs that are printable and for users who wish to enter data electronically, they provide the same files in RTF or DOC formats. There are a number of services that do the conversion: http://www.gohtm.com/ Best regards, Omnivorous-GA |

Thanks ominvorous. The problem with those, however, is that the uers cannot save the data they have entered locally using just Acrobat Reader.... |

Adobe sells a product which can be used to add saving rights to PDFs so they could be saved by an Acrobat Reader. It's pretty expensive: http://www.adobe.com/products/server/readerextensions/main.html Other solutions could include setting up a server which will store user's modifications obtained by PDF submit and displying them back to users. |
