Unfortunately, only data older than 50 years is included in the Nobel Prize database, as stipulated by the statutes of the Nobel Foundation. Having said that, my search indicated that McCord was not nominated at any time between 1901-1951. THE NOMINATION DATABASE FOR THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE, 1901-1951 http://nobelprize.org/peace/nomination/nomination.php?action=advsearch&key1=candname&log1=%3D&string1=mccord&log10=OR&key2=candname&log2=LIKE&string2=&log11=OR&key3=candname&log3=LIKE&string3=&startyear=&endyear=&order1=year&order2=nomname&order3=cand1name&submit2.x=10&submit2.y=4 I don?t think you?ll find any other searchable information on this matter. Please let me know if this suffices as an answer in lieu of the absence of more complete information. Regards; Tutuzdad-ga |

Because the name is rather unusual, I am guessing that the gentleman you are referring to is Joe M. McCord. Here is a recent bio of Dr. McCord: "Joe M. McCord, Ph.D. Dr. McCord is Professor of Medicine, Webb-Waring Institute, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver, Colorado. Dr. McCord's scientific interests are the chemistry and pathophysiology of superoxide and related free radicals in selected diseases. He is a member of several professional societies, has served as president of The Oxygen Society and is a member of several editorial boards. Dr. McCord is a co-discoverer of superoxide dismutase. He is the recipient of several awards including the Eminent Scholar Endowed Chair, State of Alabama and the Robert Donner Endowed Chair for Medical Research, Webb-Waring Lung Institute. Oxis Internatonal: Corporate Profile: Scientific Advisory Board http://www.oxis.com/profile.html There is no mention of any recognition by the Nobel Foundation in this biographical summary. |
