It would be helpful if you could clarify the regional significance you wish to have your dress be. 18th Century Europe wore much different clothing than did the rest of the world. If you are looking for a colonial style, http://www.anothertyme.com/Heart-n-Horn/colonial_clothes.htm sells a red colonial 18th century dress in your daughters size. http://www.fairygodmother.co.uk/displaylists.asp?grp=18th+Century carries dresses from every historic era, including the 18th century. The costume designer might take special requests. The dresses displayed on the website are beautiful, in my opinion. I suggest that you try Google or Google catalogs searching red 18th century dress When I duplicated this search, I found many people who were willing to custom sew a red 18th century dress. I also found some costume shops that sold them pre-made. It all really depends on what you want. If all else fails, visit the fabric section of your local Wal-Mart and peruse the costume pattern catalogs they put out for people to look at. McCalls has some wonderful patterns that are fairly easy to duplicate. You might find a sewing talent you never knew you had! Good luck! |

Although not a personally-tailored one, I noticed that my local Disney store just put out a red 18th Century Dress costume for Halloween and it is absolutely beautiful, made from velvet and lace. I can't figure out if it is supposed to be a certain Disney Character costume or not, as I have never seen it before, but it is beautiful, nonetheless, and when I saw it I immediately thought of you! It definitely is not the stereotypical costume and looks like a dress that may have been worn in the 18th century. You might wish to check them out, if you have one nearby. Cheers, dexterpexter |
