Question ID: 465468
I am looking for a good accountant in New York City who knows a lot
about getting maximum deductions from ordinary income (salary, not
part of a small business) earned in multiple states (up to 5 for me).
The accountant should:

1) Be knowledgable. Specifically, knowledgable about the types of
deductions that will lead to large tax savings in the $100K-$200K
income range with income earned in multiple states.

2) Have good communication skills. I will want to understand all of
the deductions s/he is making and why s/he is making them.

3) Be relatively low cost. I recognize that better accountants are
going to cost more, which is why this is at #3 and not #1. However,
this is definitely a factor for me.

I am looking for a list of 10-20 accountants, preferably including some that you
have worked with personally. If my price is too low, feel free to request a
higher amount if you believe you will be able to answer my question
for that amount. I will give a high rating for any reasonably well
thought out answer that addresses the issues mentioned above.

I also welcome comments from other users about accountants you have used personally.

Since no one has responded yet, I'd like to relax the expectations to
5-15 tax professionals.

Also, to be clear, I am just looking for good tax professionals who
charge a reasonable amount of money and have good communication skills
and are knowledgable. These are pretty generic qualities. Don't
worry about the fact that I'll be earning income in multiple states -
that's something that most tax professionals should have experience
with anyway.
