Question ID: 46547
I am looking for a detailed description of the information printed on
airline tickets (ATB 2 style).

I would like answers to the following questions:

1. What does the information in each of these fields describe: "ISS.
OFF. CODE", "ISS. AGT. ID.", "TOUR CODE", "F.I.", "ORIGINAL ISSUE",
"ISSUED IN EXCHANGE FOR", "SEQ. NO"

2. The upper right corner of the passenger coupon (the perforated
stub) is often (but not always) marked with the number "2". This is
printed on all the flight coupons and on the passenger receipt. What
does this figure indicate?

3. Why are there two sets of "PCS - CK. WT. - UNCK. WT." fields on
each flight coupon?

4. What information is encoded in the magnetic stripe on the back of
the ticket?

5. Is the colour of the ticket significant? I have only received
tickets with green or blue shades, are any other colour schemes
commonly used?

I don't have your answer, but I do have some relevant information.

The definitive source of this answer probably lies with the International Air
Transport Association (http://www.iata.org/). One of their products ($58 for
the english edition) is the Ticketing Manual which likely describes the
ticket in extensive detail (along with a lot of other things).

The other place you may find this information is at a government group
such as the Department of Transportation (http://www.dot.gov/). For example,
  http://dms.dot.gov/general/orders/19953qtr/95840.html
lists a number of appendicies that appear to provide the specification
of this information. I could not find a copy of these specifications on line.
It may be necessary to do a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request
to get the material and cost more than going to the IATA directly.

Hi Blazius,

Check out paragraph number 4 " How do I Read my Airline Ticket".
MTS Travel Website

I hope this helps you have a better understanding of an airline ticket.
