Hi, On the client win2K pc, NetScape v7.2, Wordperfect 11 installed
with a C:\temp\test.wpd, and a separate IIS server with test.htm basically
containing a link:<a href="file://C:/temp/test.wpd">load local WPD</a>.
How should I configure so that I can open the local wpd file from the
link on the test.htm on that separate server? (This setup works for
NetScape v4.07.)
Thank you.

Try putting three slashes after file: i.e. "file:///C:/temp/test.wpd".

What happens when you click that link? Do you get any error message?

When I clicked the link, nothing seemed to have happened. Not even the
Download manager which is configured to be opened. I tried the
following:
1. I removed compreg.dat.
2. Edit/Preferences/Helper Applications.
a. removing all applications (but html/text can not be removed.)
b. application/wordperfect5.1
c. application/wordperfect6
d. application/x-wordperfect6
e. application/wordperfect
None seemed to have any effect with NetScape7.2

This has been resolved by my coworker who found out that it was a
netscape configuration about the file:// protocol.
1. In the url if you type about:config
2. change security.checkloaduri from true to false (double click it)
3. restart your netscape.
