I've seen .gif links that one can embed into a webpage to display the
current weather conditions for a specific location. I was wondering
if there are similar .gif links that one can embed into a webpage to
display the current exchange rate for a given currency or pair of
currencies. For example, I'd like to embed the current USD-CAD
exchange rate into my web page.

I found a Perl script could pull stock quotes and exchange rates from
finance.yahoo.com. I modified it, then converted my HTML page to use
server-side includes, thus enabling me to embed the conversion rate
into the page as text.
