remember?  If it is not, could you describe as best you can how the

Sorry, but it isn't any of the three songs you mentioned. The tempo
was about the same, but the song I'm looking for was lighter than
either DARK END OF THE STREET or DARK IS THE NIGHT. It also had less
of the slide guitar effect. MARIE ELENA is closer in that regard.
Also, I don't believe I ever heard the tune before or since in any
other form, unlike more familiar pieces like MARIE ELENA and DARK END
OF THE STREET.

Are you sure it was Ry Cooder?  "Marie Elena" actually reminds me of
the solo stuff that Jerry Garcia did for the Zabriskie Point
soundtrack (1970.)
