Question ID: 465853
I stayed with my daughter and son-in-law for 2 hectic weeks Dec. 5 -
19 when my grandson was born. It was a rough delivery and
recuperation for mother and baby. My son-in-law is stubborn, stupid,
and marginally employed in low paying jobs. My daughter is marginally
employed in low paying jobs and is now a full time stay at home
mother. My son-in-law is a compulsive buyer, I guess, think, one of
those people who are addicted to buying things, get a physical boost
when they buy things for themselves to help relieve their
depression???? He buys junk like (I am just throwing out numbers and
prices here) 5 dvd's for $22.99, 8 cd's for 18.99, junky stuff,
limited edition commerative plates, etc. I know all that is in itself
a problem, however my specific question/problem follows. He proudly
showed me his "free" tools he gets in the mail. He said he gets them
for free from the company so he can use them, assess their reliability
or worth????? Of course I thought right away that is the stupidest
thing I ever heard of, of course he is getting ripped off, and of
course I found (in trying to organize and clean their apt.) a bill for
Handyman Tool company for $225.70. Fortunately I am independantly
wealthy and found it easiest to just pay off as many of their bills as
I could while I was there. I sent a check to Handy Man for the full
amount. I didn't keep any receipts or papers, I did not want any
reminders of their whole stupid financial mess. I also (unbeknownst
to them) sent the commemorative plate people, and the handyman tool
people, a change of address card to my address so whatever junk they
kept sending I could just return to sender. So now I have two power
tools which just arrived in the mail. How can I get off their mailing
list????? I don't want to get their cheap stupid ripp off tools at my
address, I don't want to be reminded of the whole mess. All I have is
the return address on the tool box, NMAG, 5389 East Provident
Drive, Cincinnati, Ohio 45246. Same thing with whatever stupid
commerative "junk" items. I don't have any of the commemorative junk
items with me right now, but how can I get them to stop sending me
stuff. I know I can just go to the post office and mark "return to
sender" on the junk, but I don't want to have to keep going to the
post office to do the return to sender thing, I don't want to keep
being reminded of the depressing mess, I want off these lists
competely.

Most respectfully sir, you need to chill out, I do though like your
concern for your child and her future like every parent should. If you
want to "clean up this mess" though then you need a phone number to
call the company asking them politely while making them aware that you
are recording the call if incase they did not comply with your wishes
to remove YOUR rightful owned legal property address off their mailing
list, to sue them in court for invading your privacy despite your
request, if they dont buy this then you still get the mail, either sue
them if you can using the recording (if you really took that effort)or
confide in your daughter and/or son in law to remove your property
address stating that it is doing a bad credit scoring for your further
financial plans, linking mailing adresses to the property, or instead
of changing it to your own adress, redirect the junk mail to the local
post office by sending change of address again to them, maybe you can
try the last first before the call to cause less suspicion to be
successful, while having minimal fuss to deal with and still getting
the goals as I belive thats how you are.Best of luck

just to add, you can get the phone number when someone else picks this
up who is resourceful enough to get you their number if you cant find
it online already.
