Hello.
The quote actually came from Texas Lt. Governor Bill Hobby.
In 1984, Walter Mondale and Geraldine Ferraro were campaigning in
Texas against Ronald Reagan and George Bush (Sr). Mondale and
Ferraro were joined at campaign rallies by various top Texas
Democrats, including Hobby and state treasurer Ann Richards.
At one event for Mondale/Ferraro, Bill Hobby joked, "If Reagan loved
women any more, Ann Richards would have to take in ironing."
From the Boston Globe, August 3, 1984:
'Even a moderate like Lt. Gov. Bill Hobby felt no compunction about
bashing Reagan by saying, "If Reagan loved women any more, Ann
Richards would have to take in ironing."'

DUPLICATE DEMOCRATIC MIRACLE IN TEXAS," August 3, 1984. pg. 1
