You can't precisely say what content will be the next boom as SMS was for GSM. For me, the main pass will be to remove the old FM walkman from your pocket and transfer all radio stations to fully digital over EDGE or UMTS to listeners. Clean digital signal, constant stereo, fast switching, genre categorization... I doubt that people will watch TV channels on their UMTS mobile phones, but I strongly believe that radio stations as we know them will transfer to complete digital. The question with audio services is "What about personal MP3 collections?". Well, the proof that people like to hear different kinds of music and that they can't have all the music in the world on their portable players is the internet radio community. Again, immagine the marketing possibilites of UMTS/EDGE radio. You listen to a song you like, you want that song as a ringtone, and you just press a button on your mobile phone to download/set as ringtone/pay the song - all in less than 30 seconds and with just 1-2 clicks! Music is the future. It will never die, it will never go away. Animation and video clips will do the trick for cosmetic enhancements to my mobile phone, but they will not grow in the amount other areas of content providing could. |

Hi, First thanks for the input. I agree completely with the radio/music part. Nevertheless, I am still in search of a video/animation type of content that will win the heart of mobile users ages 15-25. Which content will be right to view/interact/listen/respond/vote (for/against) on a mobile phone that will be most natural on a mobile phone versus Internet (the "competitor/alternative")? |
