The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration sells
nautical charts for the California coast, including the islands. For a

You might also be interested in Coast Pilot 7, a book that supplements
the maps with textual descriptions of banks, reefs, etc.

I am under the impression that nautical charts are not the same as
bathymetric maps.... am I mistaken?

Nautical charts contain bathymetric data. For something more tailored
to bathymetry, try the National Ocean Service Bathymetric maps
available in electronic format at
(http://ols.nndc.noaa.gov/plolstore/plsql/olstore.prodspecific?prodnum=G01971-CDR-A0001).

Answer and clarification was fast and accurate.... more than I would
