As the compound has a CAS #, one of the first places I'd look (after catalogues, which I sadly don't have handy at the minute) would be Chem Abs itself... Stephan |

Point taken in part, but many chemical catalogues I've seen in the past have literature references to uses and preparations of the compounds they sell. If you can find it for sale, you may be able to contact the company and find out what sort of route they use. |

Stephan - My experience is that such catalogue references are for applications of the chemical of interest, rather than its synthesis. In the "make or buy" situation, catalogue companies have little interest in their potential customers choosing the former route. Alan |

I found a synthesis of I think this compound and quite a few related compounds using MDL Crossfire Commander( sort of, Crossfire gave me the wrong starting page). The article is from JACS and can be found at this link: http://pubs.acs.org/cgi-bin/archive.cgi/jacsat/1944/66/i06/pdf/ja01234a010.pdf Note: your university, place of work, or even you need to have acess to JACS journals (which I assume you do since you were using Chem Abs). The journal is Journal of the American Chemical Society 1944, Vol. 66, Issue 6, pp. 879-881 Also there is a Chem abstracts reference from 1947 pg. 774. |
