My water has a low Ph and the water pipes in my house ( 5yr old house ) are copper. The acidity increases the amount of copper introduced into the water = blue water, blonde hair turning to blonde w/ a tint of blue, blue stains on the shower, etc... I have sent my water off via the County agent to U of Ga. for testing, meanwhile, I have had a United standard representative and a Culligan rep test my water (limited testing abilities). I am awaiting detailed test results from the County. My question is: Does any water filtration company offer a filter that I can hook up directly to the shower head instead of having a filter that purifies the water upstream only to have it run through my copper pipes and turn my hair and shower blue. I know they offer filtrationn for the kitchen, but I only care about the water coming out of the shower. Thanks | |

I'm pleased to have been able to help you find a shower filter. I hope the Silver Bullet will be as effective for you as it has been for my formerly blue-haired friend! Silver Bullet KDF Shower Filter with Matching Showerhead http://www.santeforhealth.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=8 Regarding other water treatment methods (such as the pH-lowering that you mentioned), you may want to browse through some of these water filtration and treatment websites listed in the Google Directory: Google Directory http://directory.google.com/Top/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Kitchen_and_Dining/Water_Treatment/Filtration/ Google Directory http://directory.google.com/Top/Home/Consumer_Information/Appliances/Water_Filters/ Google Directory http://directory.google.com/Top/Science/Environment/Water_Resources/Drinking_Water/Filtration_and_Treatment/ If you'd like anything additional, please request clarification. I'll be glad to offer further assistance before you rate my answer. Best regards, pinkfreud |

Thanks to pinkfreud for the helpful tip. I would recommend checking out the Rainshow'r CQ-1000 shower filter. They are considerably less expensive, and the replacement filters are cheaper as well. The CQ-1000 also contains a KDF filtration bed and removes chlorine. You can find info on the mfg here: http://www.rainshowrmfg.com Google Search "rainshowr cq-1000": ://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&q=rainshowr+cq-1000 Or, for more information/pricing, visit: http://www.freshwatersystems.com/products/index/p104/104/72/102 |
