I urgently need up-to-date information about SMS in various countries. 

The information I need is:
SMS Use per month (volume of mesages sent per month)
Projected Growth % of SMS (over the next year)

The countries I need the information for are:
Thailand
Philippines
Cuba (urgently needed)
Vietnam
India (use ONLY)
Brazil 
Germany
Mexico
South Korea
Pakistan
United Arab Emirates
Switzerland
Denmark
Austria
Netherlands
Spain

These are all urgent data requirements. 2004/2003 data would be best,
since changes are very drastic with the growth rates. If necessary,
take older data and older growth rates and extrapolate the figures
please.

The best way would be to search for the carriers providing service in
these countries. And then go to the carrier websites for the specific
countries and put up a query with them. generally such stats are
available on the carriers website. if not you can always request them
for it!!

The Philippines is one of the top, yes :) However, the statistics are
not all up to date.

Additionally, approaching each carrier is difficult because some
countries have dozens of carriers and some so small that it would take
a good deal of time. if anyone can do that task, go for it. :) I know
there are research reports out there for some of this data, but they
require purchase unless someone out there has the data.

Language barriers have also been a problem in approaching carrier
websites and government statistic bases.

I've been looking around for resources, but I doubt there'll be any
free taste of the information you are looking for. Most are in reports
that you'll have to buy from research companies for hundreds of
dollars. It's be a lucky break to find some information for free.

Yes, same situation for me. I was hoping some researcher out there
would have a preexisting document. Or would be able to read more
languages than me!
