Well, a good place to start would be to look at how a washing maching works. You will need to know what parts are inside it. http://home.howstuffworks.com/washer.htm This sounds a lot like someone's homework question (and a good one too, you have a smart teacher) so I'll just suggest that you start by looking at the forms of energy that go into the unit and follow thair path to the componets that might produce sone kind of output or action, which would require energy.
